Beechwood Place is part of  "The Drakensberg Experience"  which is part of OPEN AFRICA

The Drakensberg Experience is located in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands.  The route is centred on the Drakensberg World Heritage Site, which includes Giants Castle and the Central and Northern Drakensberg.  The route starts at Hidcote in the South, to Sterkfontein Dam in the North, including towns such as Estcourt, Winterton, Bergville, Weenen, and Geluksburg, covering the area up to but not including the towns of Colenso and Ladysmith.

Beechwood Place is ideally situated as a base for accommodation when visiting several of these fascinating areas in the Kwa Zulu Natal Midlands.

Attractions

The Estcourt/Wembezi area offers many activities to keep the active person busy.

Including, a visit to Fort Durnford, first occupied in 1847

Canoeing and white-water rafting, sailing and trout fishing are all available in the vicinity for the watersport enthusiasts. The Estcourt Aero Club offers gliding to the public by arrangement.

Game viewing and bird watching enthusiasts are in for a treat. Weenen Game Reserve, one of several reserves in the area, has several rhino which are seen by visitors on a regular basis and over 230 species of birds have been recorded in the reserve!

A nine hole Golf course and a picturesque bowling greens cater for those visitors who prefer the less robust activities.
